Annapolis, MD- Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown will host the 2009 Maryland Fishing Challenge Finale, where Denton Angler Mike Lyons — the final angler to catch a Diamond Jim tagged striped bass — will find out whether he’s walking away a $25,000 winner, or walking away with a $500 consolation prize. Lyons will also join more than a thousand anglers who caught a citation fish for the grand finale drawing of a boat, motor and trailer from Bass Pros Shops and Tracker Boats, as well as thousands of dollars worth of other prizes from Bill’s Outdoor Center.
The Diamond Jim component of the Fishing Challenge started June 1 and ran through Labor Day, September 7, 2009. Nearly 1,500 anglers from as far away as California qualified to participate in Saturday’s grand prize drawing.
