President Barack Obama has recognized the conservation spirit of hunters and anglers while officially proclaiming Saturday, Sept. 26, as National Hunting and Fishing Day in America.

Congress formalized NHF Day in 1972. Every U.S. President since Richard M. Nixon has issued a proclamation commemorating the contributions of sportsmen and women. Obama’s proclamation will be archived at Wonders of Wildlife museum in Springfield, Mo., the official home of National Hunting and Fishing Day.
