Field & Stream, The World’s Leading Outdoor Magazine, announce the four youths selected as the new GenerationWild.com Junior Pro Staffers. The three boys and one girl selected will appear in the December/January issue, on newsstand November, 24th, 2009. They will serve as the primary writers of the GenerationWild.com website, dedicated to providing comprehensive information to young -hunters and anglers on a wide range of outdoor topics through videos, photo galleries, beginner’s guides, quizzes and blogs. Throughout the year, the pro staff will also contribute to the Generation Wild column in Field & Stream magazine, offering outdoor advice to other young hunters and anglers.
Nate Dean, 16, of Eau Claire, WI; Nathan Garrett, 15, of Wilmington, NC; Brooke Kennedy, 15, of Thurmont, MD; and Thomas Ladson, 18, of Sugarloaf, PA; comprise the second group of Junior Pro Staffers for the GenerationWild.com. Each was selected by Field & Stream to participate in the program on the basis of essays that outlined their hunting and fishing experiences and how they would mentor younger sportsmen and women.
“These kids live and breathe hunting and fishing,” said Anthony Licata, editor of Field & Stream. “They’re knowledgeable, passionate, and absolutely dedicated to promoting and protecting the outdoor sports. I can’t wait to see what they do on generationwild.com.”
Throughout the year, the Field & Stream and Realtree staffs will help the Junior Pro Staffers with their hunting and fishing stories, photos and web movies. To help inspire and outfit the Pro Staffers, they will each receive a free spring turkey hunt in 2010 provided by Realtree, the presenting sponsor of GenerationWild.com; Realtree clothing and gear; a digital camera; and a video camera.
Field & Stream launched GenerationWild.com, with presenting sponsor Realtree, in July of 2008. The site is geared exclusively toward youth outdoorsmen and -women, providing hunting and fishing geared entertainment and education as well as a blog to share photos, videos and ideas. The website’s Beginner’s Guides deliver information on getting started in everything from coyote hunting to salmon fishing, and more guides are added regularly. Experienced sportsmen will find tips to help them fine-tune and test their skills in the website’s Quizzes and Outdoor Skills sections. Regularly updated Articles cover the best hunting and fishing destinations and adventures.
