Hand calls or electronic? Which is best? Tips from the Pros at Dogbreath Calls!!

Hey Brent,
Todd Dogbreath here…
I get asked this question every single day so I want to set the record straight. Even though I sell and promote my own line of hand calls, Dogbreath Coyote Calls, and as much as it kills me to admit this…I’m not going to lie to you, I use both.
You will discover that the most successful coyote hunters use both. Not necessarily on every stand but different setups require different tactics.
For example, let me tell you about one technique that I have been using for a few years with great results. This is for those a “call shy” dog when you know they are there and nothing seems to work.

Take your electronic call and place it out in front about fifty yards and play a very low volume pup whines or pup distress. Leave it play continuously. The volume has to be so low that you have a hard time hearing it. Mix in some rabbit distress from your hand call about every 3 to 5 minutes and let it rip. I’ll usually spend at least 45 minutes on a stand when I’m using this technique. For some reason and I don’t know what it is this really does the trick on those hard to call areas.

The next big question I get asked when I talk about using electronic calls is which one is best? Trust me on this one, I’ve tried them all from the cheap ones to the expensive ones, and I’ll tell you that I would only buy a Fox Pro. You can start out with something else but sooner or later you’ll end up with a Fox Pro. My experience is that sooner is always cheaper than later. They have a new call out called the Firestorm. Plain and simple it’s a coyote hunter’s dream machine.
