The Northwoods Wanderings Backwoods Excursion Bike Project 2014

Let’s begin this by briefly explaining how this got started.

As most of my readers know I am reviewer for a company called Tomoson. As such I have access to offers for all kinds of things that an outdoorsman may or may not need. As seen by the flood of reviews I have done over the last few months.

About a month ago came the opportunity to receive and review a mountable bike light from a company called Vimle the light was called LUMENX. This was not your ordinary bike light but a high tech LED light with a few tricks up it’s sleeve.

The Lumenx mountable bicycle headlight is a powerfful 2-in-1 portable LED bike light that will shine up to 500 feet and can effectively light up your path every time. Its LED lights are shockproof with a higher light output and life span than other competitive incandescent bulbs.

It is protable and easy to install and remove with no tools needed. It fits around any handlebar, seat post frame tube and more.

Guaranteed to be made of the highest quality materials and gives the highest safety and security possible.

Characteristics:
*Up to 500 feet light visibility
*1x – 2000x zoom and flash mode
*Made up of durable military grade aluminum
*Flexible silicone water resistant body
*Energy-saving feature that ensures long lasting battery life”

In accordance with the standard rules I had the opportunity to test and play with the great little light. I took the bike on several rides at dusk and in full dark to test the lights performance. Securing the red strobe light to the rear of the seat post as instructed to increase visibility from the rear. The neighborhood felines will never be the same after getting caught in the HIGHBEAMS.I had so much fun testing the light on my bike I came up with a better idea.

“How about rebuilding a standard mountain bike into a more hitech excursion bike for backwoods adventures.”

Along came a better version of the vision and that was to include sponsors and outfit the bike with the newest technology that aided the rider on their excursions. That’s where our next sponsor joined us.

I was checking out some accessories for bikes to formulate a better plan on how the project should go and what I wanted for the bike build. When I came across the site and had to look further into it. I contacted Pete and Marlana Hall directly and requested the chance to review their cool invention. It is awesome!!

They have created an answer to the age-old issue of what to do with your poles, and built it to last! This is an awesome MADE IN AMERICA piece. The mounting is simple but rugged and the bungee strap to hold the rods is a solid idea!

Here is the same mount on the TREK 800

Here is a picture of the LumenX light on my bike

Here is the little red taillight flasher…..

Additionally I have also added a small Roswheel bag to hold onto misc. items that come up. I also added a solid handlebar camera mount to make it easier to have a camera in the field.

Camera Mount

Allows me to mount my Digital camera or DV camera to handlebars……also accommodates a GoPro type camera.
