House Bill 1064, Emergency Powers legislation, was defeated in the Colorado Senate State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee by a partisan 3 to 2 vote.  The two Senators voting in favor of this legislation were Kevin Grantham (R-2) and Tim Neville (R-22).

Sponsored by state Representative Amy Stephens (R-20) and state Senator Steve King (R-7), NRA-drafted HB 1064 would prohibit the state or any government agency, during a declared state of emergency, from prohibiting or restricting the otherwise lawful possession, use, carrying, transfer, transportation, storage, or display of a firearm or ammunition; seizing or confiscating a lawfully possessed firearm, or requiring registration of a firearm or ammunition for which registration is not otherwise required by law.

Despite this setback, the NRA will continue to urge lawmakers to support and pass this pro-gun legislation in Colorado.  With the November elections approaching, it is up to you to make sure pro-gun legislators are elected in office.  Please contact the following three members of the Senate State, Military & Veterans Affairs Committee who voted against HB 1064 and respectfully express your disappointment in their vote.  Contact information for these committee members is provided below.
