Sarah Palin Fights Back Against “Extreme Fringe Group”

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin yesterday released a brief statement in response to the fund raising campaign of Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund. Defenders are using Hollywood icon Ashley Judd as their puppet to lie and present the Alaskan wolf management program as something it isn’t.

Here is what Gov. Palin had to say.

“It is reprehensible and hypocritical that the Defenders of Wildlife would use Alaska and my administration as a fundraising tool to deceive Americans into parting with their hard-earned money.

“The ad campaign by this extreme fringe group, as Alaskans have witnessed over the last several years, distorts the facts about Alaska’s wildlife management programs. Alaskans depend on wildlife for food and cultural practices which can’t be sustained when predators are allowed to decimate moose and caribou populations. Our predator control programs are scientific and successful at protecting vulnerable wildlife. These audacious fundraising attempts misrepresent what goes on in Alaska, and I encourage people to learn the facts about Alaska’s positive record of managing wildlife for abundance.

Many hunters belong to DEFENDERS, but aerial shooting IS NOT HUNTING.
This is not what hunters do it´s what serial killers do.

That film footage is strikingly similar to a hunting movie I saw in the early 1970’s, I think it was called Alaskan Safari. Ashley Judd was what 3 or 4 years old?. That said, she and Defenders of Wildlife have no sympathy from me, I dont respect liars.

Who are they to say what goes on in Alaska? They know nothing of Alaska and it shows.

Perhaps since global warming is a farce the freaks in the world are looking for a new hook?

George , The people of Alaska voted against this practice at LEAST twice, possibley three, I remember FOR sure, twice.
.Now, both times, IN THE POCKET JUDGES overturned the will of the people.—to continue the practice of shooting ducks in a barrel.
The Alaskans have a right to say what goes on, and did VOTE NO on this TWICE. It still goes on because Palin wants it.

Ok DEO…prove it. Not saying youre lying, just dont have that information. Please provide a link or document that shows the will of the Alaskan People voted down the killing of wolves and Sarah Palin dictated over them and approved it anyway.

Perhaps you might focus on Michigan’s DNR a bit with their supplemental feeding ban. Michigan is in one of the heaviest winters it has had in 10 or 15 years. Seems a captive cervid was discovered to have CWD so Michigan’s DNR in it’s wisdom banned all baiting for hunting in Lower Peninsula Michigan as well as supplemental feeding during the winter. When the snows melt there is likely to be a lot of dead rotting carcases of starvation killed deer because Michigan has banned supplemental feeding in the winter for our deer herd, and they have done it WITHOUT utilizing sound scientific methods, operating in a knee-jerk fashion instead of addressing the issue in a practical proper method.

In suburban Detroit area the sheriff’s dept is shooting deer that have invaded the neighborhoods. Too many car/deer accidents. HA! Instead of educating the dolts in society of the benefit of harvest during hunting season, and allowing bow hunting in the area woodlots, or enhancing their traffic enforcement so people would slow down, they just shoot the deer to get rid of them. Insurance companies file lawsuits because the DNR allowed so many deer to exist, too much property damage and to crops etc.

We are educating our children that hunting is bad, guns or any other weapon is bad. Simply put, ignorance kills more people every day than guns or hunting ever has.

They also re-introduced wolves to this state, and the people spoke out against it. Makes no difference they did it anyway. NOW, Michigan Wolves are subject to cuel and inhumane killing by evil wolf haters who gut shoot them so they run off and die elsewhere so the shooter is not apprehended, or poison them with rat poisons. Pretty miserable deaths wouldnt you agree? Wolves were erradicated by our forefathers for a reason. Now more will go through senseless carnage because book educated idiots control our wildlife management divisions. Being a dogman I am sympathetic to the wolves, I just wish our DNR had not brought them here. As they proliferate like the coyotes have, the wolves will suffer greatly in the longrun.

Hunting wolves, like the deer is the right thing to do. At least the percentages of a humane kill go up vs the inhumane methods employed by those who hate them.

Nature is cruel.

Have you ever watched a wolf pack eat a kill? Usually the animal is still alive while they are chewing the rear legs off of it. I have read documents about bears eating deer. One document tells of a fawn that was crippled by a sow for her cubs to learn to catch and eat. The fawn lived nearly a day while the cubs knawed on it’s body, chewing it’s ears off etc.

Sarah Palin is a breath of fresh air. She has more practical outdoor experience and wisdom than ANYBODY in our Department of Natural Resources here in Michigan, and likely most any other state.

Has anyone noticed that all the stories about her killing a moose are accompanied with a photo of her and her daughter Piper with a carabou she apparently harvested? That’s as good an example of the ignorance in this country I can think of when hunting and outdoor stewardship is the topic.

If my memory serves me properly, Alaska voted twice on a bill to stop aerial killing of wolves. Without going into the details of the misrepresentation of the intent of the bills, I believe that Alaska is one state where the legislature has the power to overturn a citizen’s initiative.

This was done for a few reasons the biggest being that the state of Alaska is required through its constitution to manage game for a sustained yield. The courts have time and again recognized and approved the practice of aerial killing as a legitimate management tool and also the courts have ruled that it is not in violation of the federal aerial hunting laws for commercial hunting.

Aerial gunning for wildlife management has gone on in several states for several years. Defenders is picking on Alaska right now because they have it in for Palin. They have stated such.

The other lame argument is that it isn’t hunting and the only ones arguing against that are those arguing for it. It isn’t hunting. Tags are not sold so anybody can go gun down a wolf from a plane. This is strictly wildlife management practice that has to be done.

Some attempt to through out fair chase. Again this isn’t hunting but get down off your high horses for a minute. States have for decades, including Speaker Pelosi’s state approved of the wholesale slaughter of thousands and thousands of fish from lakes and ponds in order to kill off unwanted “crap” fish and predator fish. Then are replaced by game fish. Where’s the outrage? What are fish not cute and cuddly little furballs?

Hunting wolves from the air is the most efective way to hunt them. There is no other way to keep their numbers in check in such a huge vast wilderness like Alaska. Sounds good to me, I’d take Sarah and Tonya over what we’ve got any day. Bet they pay their taxes and if they don’t Tonya can fixem so they do.
