One of my graduate student buddies Colter, a Georgia native, converted a couple chances this weekend to notch his first two cuts into his archery career belt. On a bow-only deer control mission, he has had multiple encounters with deer at this small parcel. He even reached full draw a time or two but held his shot because the stars weren’t quite aligned.
Well, this weekend they aligned….TWICE. Friday night, Colter arrowed his first ever archery deer at about 20 yards. Double lung smackdown! 50 yards later…backstraps!
Saturday night, he had several more deer come in to his set-up and made a hard quartering away shot at 31 yards on doe #2. Unsure of his hit and with cold weather, a morning recovery revealed a great shot and only a 40 yard blood trail.
Congrats Colter, I know you’ve been pursuing bowhunting success for a couple of years now, had some chances that didn’t quite pan out, but persistence wins out and apparently when it rains…it pours! In a good way this time.
